Now that you have your pontoon boat it’s time to fit it out. First of all decide what purpose you’re going to use your boat for so that you have an idea of what you need to fit it out comfortably and will fit in with your requirements.

With so many accessories and supplies available these days you can easily take a second-hand pontoon and refit it to your liking. There is a large list of pontoon boat suppliers available in the market today and some of the will supply such things as pontoon furniture, seats, carpets and Bimini tops to name just a few.

There is so much to choose from as in the case of furniture where you can go from classical traditional furniture styles to up market luxurious designer pontoon furniture. Anything you want you can get. The furniture can be readily available or you may choose to have it custom-made. You can choose the colors you want and the material as well as choosing the shape and size of your furniture. The use of contemporary furniture is very much in these days.

Carpeting your pontoon boat properly can be a difficult decision and once again you can either choose a carpet that is plain or you may decide to have it custom-made. You can even include your family’s crest as an example. Adding carpet to your pontoon makes it so much more comfortable for you and your guests who are likely to roam around the deck in bare feet.

You can also add other items such as a pontoon ladder, tables, chairs, and even specialized stereo and TV facilities. Because of the addition of these items you will want to stay on your pontoon boat for much longer periods of time and you are more likely to hold parties on board.

Whether you’re sailing on a pontoon boat or any other boat you must have on board the required safety equipment such as lifejackets. This is a necessary item especially if there are children onboard or someone who is on your pontoon boat for the first time and doesn’t know how to swim. Adding this one feature could save someone’s’ life in an emergency.

Before you buy any of your supplies for your pontoon boat it’s worthwhile to do a search on the Internet for the items you are after so that you can get an idea of what to order for your own personal use. A lot of the manufacturers of these supplies will take your orders online and most of them will accept credit cards so it takes a lot of work out of searching for what you want.

Pontoon boats are becoming more and more popular especially with families because they are an ideal size for a small family outing or for sailing on a river or lake. They are also becoming more and more popular for use as a fishing vessel as they are very sturdy and make an ideal fishing platform.

There has been a significant rise in the number of pontoon boat dealers because of the demand for these boats. Every manufacturer is trying to come up with a bigger and better model to cater for the needs of their customers, so the dealers are all competing for as much business as they can get.

The pontoon boat dealer is the one who has the first contact with the potential buyer so before you go looking at pontoon boats decide whether you want a new one or a used one and check up on and pick the appropriate dealer. Most of the pontoon dealers offer their boats at retail price only and will negotiate a deal with the customer to ensure that both are happy with the price. You must remember that when you are negotiating a price with the dealer, they are generally starting at a higher price anyway so that they know they can go down to a lower price which is more suitable for you. When the pontoon boat is sold it is sold at a much higher price than the actual cost price.

Other pontoon boat dealers prefer to go with a fixed price so this can sometimes make your choice very easy because you know that you will not have to haggle with the price. You also know that you will not be paying more for your pontoon boat because everything will be included in the price.

Some of pontoon boat dealers also sell different accessories for their boats so it is wise to buy them from the same dealer so that you know you are getting the correct ones. When choosing a pontoon boat dealer always choose one who will offer you a warranty.

Make sure that you are buying your pontoon boat from an official pontoon boat dealer because if you choose to buy from a local dealer you may not be getting what you’ve paid for. Most of the really good dealers will offer you a warranty which ensures that you will be safe in purchasing their product. Every dealer is trying to attract more and more customers so make sure that you choose one who offers a warranty first just in case you have problems with your new pontoon boat.

Finding the right boat for your needs is the aim of your exercise. One boat that is not considered enough is the mini pontoon boat.

A miniature pontoon boat is usually less than 12 feet in length and they have two sponsons (the tubes that the pontoons platform rests on) and they are usually aluminum, but could also be made from plastic or wood. They are generally powered by electricity or gas.

Mini pontoon boats are great for slow water boating in small rivers, streams or larger lakes providing there is no wind or no water currents. You sit on an elevated platform on the boat and it moves along silently. If you want a relaxing experience on the water then the mini pontoon is for you. Fishing from a mini pontoon boat is very comfortable and has the same stability as a small boat or canoe. Entering shallow waters is easy and your fishing equipment can be stored easily on the six foot by eight foot platform.

A motorized mini pontoon boat can be powered by electricity or gas. An on board battery charger can simply be re-charged when you return to port, so it’s a very simple method. A fully charged battery will keep you on the water for at least six years or more. Powering your mini pontoon boat with gas is an added advantage if you require more thrust to deal with the winds. A mini pontoon boat may not be aesthetically attractive, but it is low cost, lightweight, environmentally friendly, low maintenance and stable, so it will serve your purposes very well.

There are quite a number of mini pontoon boat manufacturers out there so make sure that you pick someone reputable. The design and welds in the craft are first class as are the fittings. If the manufacturer is reputable they will stand behind their product and may offer free trials and money back guarantees. Some manufacturers will also offer free shipping and handling. Also ask if they supply a warranty. Any or all of these additions will almost guarantee that you are dealing with someone reputable.
Mini pontoon boats are suitable for a trip to a small island or drop anchor in calm waters to go for a swim. Because the boat is flat and stable they are great to jump off and dive from. There is a lot storage on these boats and this has made them a great vessel to use for fishing and bringing the whole family onboard.

Improving the performance of your pontoon boat by the addition of a third tube also allows for the installation of a hydraulic steering system as well as the tube performance kit.

Performance pontoon boats are designed to increase both the speed and stability of your boat and you can enjoy many activities such as fishing, tubing, skiing or just having a relaxing evening. Because they are constructed with top quality materials they are not only stylish and offer superior performance but they can withstand exposure to the sun and water for many years. They are considered to be the safest of the pontoon boats available because of the multiple chambers which are separated by bulkheads.

Because of the addition of a third tube, the boat actually floats higher on the water and actually glides above the waves instead of crossing through them which reduces friction. This does not require any more horsepower than you would use with a pontoon boat which has two tubes.

As well as improving the performance of the boat it also increases the fuel economy because less friction means less work for the boat, which in turn decreases the use of fuel. Because of the addition of the extra tube, the underside is covered entirely with aluminum which hides the cross members, and this is another way of eliminating another source of friction and once again increases fuel economy.

A three tube pontoon boat which has a fitted hydraulic steering system is much easier for turning and docking the boat. If the middle tube is greater in diameter then it will significantly improve the performance of your pontoon boat when making turns.

You can have an optional 34 gallon fuel tank built into the central third tube which also increases the balance and the cruising range of the pontoon. This will make even more room for storage as it eliminates the need for the tank to be housed underneath the sundeck. The addition of a third tube improves the stability of the pontoon. Because the third tube increases contact with the water at the centre of the craft, waves pitch and surge effect is almost eliminated. Having a pontoon boat equipped with three tubes increases the load and power capacities of your pontoon boat.

These high performance pontoon boats are packed with luxurious fittings and modern amenities which will allow the whole family to enjoy their pontoon boat experience.

Many rivers have been seen as being inaccessible but now with the advent of pontoon boats this is made so much easier. These boats are so versatile and maneuverable. Pontoon boats come in many shapes and sizes and are very suitable for use as a one-person boat.

Before you choose your one man pontoon boat consider things such as price, durability, size, construction, stability and portability. They no longer have to fish in areas of high traffic because these boats are very easy to maneuver in areas not regularly seen by most fishermen.

How much money are you willing to spend on your boat? Prices can range from a couple of hundred dollars for a small version for beginners to several thousand dollars for one which will hold a lot more people and have all the added extras. Prices will vary but one thing you will have to consider is whether an anchor or a pump is included in the price. It doesn’t matter if your budget is relatively small as these boats have been very well constructed.

The next consideration is the material you want to build your boat from and style of pontoon boat you require. The heavier the pontoon material the more hard-wearing the boat will be, so many pontoons are made with an interior bladder of PVC and have an outer cover. If your plans are to fish in still water you’ll want to buy a flat style pontoon but if you’re fishing in moving water you will need a river style pontoon with the ends turned up.

The frame in the pontoon boat gives it a rigid composition and provides support the anglers seek, so choosing the right material for the frame is most important. The frames are either made from aluminum or steel with aluminum frames considered to be the most popular because they are tough, lightweight and rust free. A pontoon boat which uses a three-piece frame which uses clips will be assembled much quicker and get you out on the water as soon as possible. A frame which is bolted together takes longer to assemble but they do give the most rigid and strongest support frame.

You’ll want to inflate the pontoons as quickly as possible so buying a high capacity double action pump to inflate them will get the job done. Once you’ve assembled your pontoon a few times it should only take you between 15 to 20 minutes to assemble.

Because of their portability the one man pontoon boats will easily fit into your cars’ trunk. The more pieces your pontoon boat has the more it will break down into a smaller size. Sometimes you don’t have easy access to water so because these boats are so lightweight and can be carried short distances, it makes it easier for you to launch your boat at the water’s edge.

One man pontoon boats open up more possibilities for you, so why not consider buying one of these very portable pontoon boats. Make sure that you have a manufacturers warranty in place. Because these boats are so user-friendly they will give you years of service providing you maintain them properly. You can fish anywhere you like in these fantastic one man pontoon boats but you should always implement extreme caution when entering any such waterways.

We have recently been writing about the excellent Sea Eagle range of inflatable pontoon fishing boats, so we thought we’d point you to the various boats available in the range.

The smallest is the 285 FPB Frameless Pontoon Boat. You can get this excellent little (9 foot and 42 lbs) inflatable boat for a fraction of the cost of a full-blown fishing boat with trailer. Check out our full review for more details.

The other two inflatable pontoon boats are called “Foldcats” because they come with a patented folding frame. The 375 Foldcat inflatable pontoon boat is for one or two people whereas the 440 FoldCat blow-up pontoon boat is for three or four. Again, the boats are easy to transport because they don’t require a trailer. Even better, at the fishing destination, they assemble in just 5 minutes. Check out our reviews of the 375 and 440 Sea Eagle foldcat boats for more details.

In the video below, taken at iCAST 2009, Steve Pennaz of the North American Fishing Club asked Cecil Hogue from Sea Eagle about their new 285fpb (frameless pontoon boat) inflatable pontoon fishing boat. It sounds incredible. For just $699 (the price mentioned in the video), you get a strong, sturdy and stable fishing boat which transports easily to and from wherever you want to fish because it inflates in just five minutes. The blow-up pontoons and hard floor mean you can even stand in the boat to fish which you can’t do in something like a kayak.

CLICK HERE to visit SeaEagle and check out their frameless pontoon boats!

The 285 fpb comes in three different versions… deluxe, pro and ultimate.

The deluxe boat weighs just 42lbs and so is easy to move around when deflated and packed up. You can even get it into a car trunk because it fits into a bag roughly the size of a sports bag. Even the seat is inflatable! Currently the price is $499 with free shipping, which can’t be beat!

The pro version of the 285 is the same basic boat, but with more extras such as a swivel seat kit, motormount and floorboard. The deluxe version sells for $699, again with free shipping.

The ultimate version of the 285 frameless pontoon boat is again, the same boat, but this time with a $1,699 powerful Torqeedo electric motor in addition to everything the pro option comes with. The ultimate option costs $2,398 and a freight charge applies to this item, probably due to the insurance costs of shipping it all!

CLICK HERE to visit SeaEagle and check out their frameless pontoon boats!

Looking for something larger, but still want an inflatable pontoon for fishing? Check out the Sea Eagle 375fc foldcat pontoon and the larger Sea Eagle foldcat 440 pontoon. Those boats are just as sturdy and as quick to inflate as the 285 frameless pontoon, but come with a patented folding frame.

The 375fc (foldcat) from Sea Eagle is one of the best pontoon boats available on the market today. It has an incredible patented folding frame, which means you can fold it up and put it in the back of your truck, then just unfold it wherever you want to use it. You don’t need an expensive trailer to drag your pontoon along behind your truck. Inflation and assembly time when you reach your fishing point is just 5 minutes.

It also has a “full floor” between the two large, inflatable pontoons, so you have more useable “floor space” than with other boats and won’t lost anything you happen to drop, unlike pontoons that don’t have a floor. The Foldcat 375fc is incredibly stable when compared to hard hull boats because of the 4-foot wide beam, so you can fish (or relax) safely.

In fact, the Foldcat seaeagle 375 is such a good pontoon, it was rated at 9.7 out of 10 by the North American Fishing Club!

The 375fc deluxe package comes with two swivel seats, two quick release seat mounts, a foot pump, two rod holders, two super strong oars & oarlocks, a built-in motormount for gas & electric motors, a nylon hull carry bag and a repair kit, all with a 3-year warranty as standard.

With the “Pro Angler” package you get more equipment such as a storage bag and a swivel seat pedestal. With the “Motor” package you get a Minn Kota CL28 motor. With the “Ultimate” package you get a Torqeedo Electric Motor, two pedestals for the seats and a casting bar.

There’s a free shipping offer as a write this. Click here to see if it’s still available.

You even get 180 days (that’s about 6 months!) to try the SeaEagle Foldcat 375fc and can return it during that time for a refund if you’re not satisfied. That’s a really bold guarantee, which means they must really think the Fold Cat is a top-notch product!

Choosing a good-quality pontoon boat trailer is almost as important as choosing your pontoon boat. The first choice for buying your pontoon boat trailer is naturally from the boat dealer you purchased your pontoon boat from.

If you decide to buy your trailer from the pontoon boat dealer make sure that all the parts of trailer are of a very high quality as many people don’t understand the importance of using the right type of parts and products. Using high-quality trailers will ensure that your pontoon boat is secure and you are more comfortable about handing and managing your boat.

Pontoon boat trailers play a very significant role in that they have to carry your pontoon boat to the river or the Lake for launching. You cannot just leave your boat at the lake or river and go home again as your boat may not be there when you get back. If you live on the edge of the lake or river then you won’t have the problem of worrying about a trailer, but if you don’t then you will have no other option but to carry your boat and take it with you wherever you go.

Ensuring that your pontoon boat trailer is extremely sturdy and strong is an important step as you will need to know if it has the capability and capacity to manage the weight of your boat. If you buy a trailer that is not strong or sturdy then there is a big chance that you will damage your boat once it slips down from the trailer into the water.

Another way to buy your pontoon boat trailer is on the Internet mainly because of the variety of options you have available to you more so than if you purchased from a store. Because they are offered over the Internet they are more likely to offer you discounts and lower prices. There are many websites which deal in pontoon boat trailers and what you must look for is a site that has a good reputation in the market and who will offer you a warranty and a money back guarantee. The disadvantage of buying online is that you don’t physically get to see the product until it is delivered to you, but if they have a money back guarantee and you check out their physical address, then you should be well and truly covered.

Knowing what is a good price to pay for a trailer is difficult because every dealer and manufacturer has their own price. If money is an issue then maybe you should opt for buying a second-hand trailer which you may get at a very cheap price compared to the price of a brand-new one.
